At today’s press conference ahead of Leicester, John Carver revealed how many points he thinks Newcastle need to be safe from relegation.

The Newcastle Head Coach believes 39 points will be enough to ensure Premier League survival.

That means 4 points from the next 4 matches, which doesn’t sound all that many until you take into account the fact that it is over two months since United picked up a single point.

United face Leicester on Saturday and then have West Brom (H), QPR (A) and West Ham (H).

A win over Leicester would all but guarantee survival as it would leave the Foxes needing 7 points from their last 3 matches, plus a number of other clubs having to pick up decent numbers of points.

The club also released the following quotes from John Carver’s press conference:

“It’s the biggest game of the weekend and huge for both sides. We need to stop this rot and get a result

“Saturday is a tough game. Leicester are very well-organised, very strong and big, physical.

“Four weeks ago Leicester were dead and buried but Nigel has turned them around and they are in with a chance of staying up.”

“Paul Dummett and Moussa Sissoko coming back into the group this week has given us a lift.”

“Siem de Jong is ready for this weekend, having played 90 minutes for the under-21s. He is not ready to start, however.”

That is all very weak and good John, but Newcastle fans have a wholly different target.

Ashley out is our only goal now.  Get out while you can mate, everyone is coming down with him.

Do you think John Carver dyes his hair? It looks unnaturally black for a 50 year old

  • Andgeo

Given the opposition the 19th Richest football club in the world (despite being undermined financially by the burdon of providing the fat swines tat shop free advertising) should be looking at 12 points from those 4 games. Anything less than that is under achievement!! Mike Ashley is a failure and should get out of our club immediately, he has  no business being there; 8 years on and still doesn’t have a clue.

Good article for a change Jackie…and this one will be a very
tough game, as they have shown they have not only the survival instinct but the
guts to go with it…and we have shown just the opposite…

    … 40points is the minimum
requirement for me, and to get that we must show the right stuff in this game…a
point will be crucial for us if just to get rid of the albatross for the final
    3 games.

  • prestondave

Funny how he never once mentioned that he was confident we would get any points from any of the remaining games. The look of resignation on his face says it all and it is partly down to his total inability to put out a decent team with a decent game plan. Useless piece of sh*t.

Andgeo  The dumbing down process has never been more evident than this season !

  • contactne8

Carver says de Jong  is not ready to start,he is ready to start,he just mjght not be
fit enough to play 90 minutes, but he should be able to play 60 minutes, put him on
from the start and if he gets tired bring him off, thats better than sending him on
    when the game is lost.

  • tino o

It’s important we get dummet straight back in place of Williamson. Our defence vastly improves with him out of it. If he is picked for the rest of the season I predict no points. Hopefully he has played his last game for us.

Any manager with Brains would do that But Charver is the Devil Pardews Protege so expect the Opposite

  • Michael Maximus Moose

And where is exatly the Mackems going to come up with 5 points ?

  • Jail for Ashley

What a diabolical situation where we are having to welcome back as a positive, a want away player who only tries in front of opposition scouts, a guy whose played four games in 20 months and a guy who in better times would be classed as a squad player at best. How far we have fallen when we are targeting four points from arguably the easiest set of fixtures in the division.
    Get these slimy barstewards out.

  • tino o

    That’s the fear

  • Chemical Dave

“Good article for a change Jackie”. Now that’s praise for you…I think ?

  • Mal44

Michael Maximus Moose  You might have said that about Hull before the weekend. You just never know and it’s a disgrace that we have got ourselves into a situation where we are relying on others being unable to get results. We certainly don’t seem capable of getting any.

  • Mal44

contactne8  Far too logical. No chance.

  • radgiegadgie

Andgeo failure by who’s criteria?  Not sure he is bothered about what we gauge as success.

  • radgiegadgie

WallaceWilson it definitely gives him that lesbian look
