Who should be the Newcastle United Captain next season?

The club is in a total mess from top to bottom and nobody takes responsibility.

From cynical and absent landlord Mike Ashley at the summit, down through minion Lee Charnley, temorary/permanent Head Coach John Carver and right down to Newcastle Captain Fabricio Coloccini. Plus indeed the vast majority of Newcastle’s players, young and old.

Changing owner, MD or JC are all sadly looking like a distant dream at the moment, but what about the Newcastle Captain?

Is it time to make a change from Fabricio Coloccini?

Does the current Captain’s personal form thrive with the responsibility? Does the team benefit from Colo being in charge on the pitch?

The fact that Coloccini has never faced the English TV cameras before or after matches is a black mark for many – but does that really matter?

We have given you six choices from the current squad, should Coloccini keep the job or would you give it to one of these five alternatives for next season?

  • Paul Patterson

I’d go with Jack Colback out of that list, as I don’t believe it should be a goalkeeper, I have my doubts over Sissoko being at the club, I’m not sure De Jong will make 10 games a season and forget Coloccini.
But I think it’s someone we will have to buy in . .

i’ll vote that only 2 of that list will be at the club next season…

  • jimblag

haha Siems not even played for us yet.

  • Andy Brannen

    Colback 100 percent #

  • Steve1221

Tiote played his best football over the last couple of seasons when he was captain.

  • James Fisher

Not 1 of them lot down there

Unfortunately this is a Choniclesque question.
Totally pointless as… 1. We do not know who will still be at Newcastle next season and …2. Even if we did we have no influence.
This pointless exercise does not become you!!

  • AlistairMoir

Colback – all the other might have moved on anyway!

  • MickP1964

NUFCTheMag can we not vote – none of the above

  • sparish35

NUFCTheMag Colback all day long, even if someone new comes in. Colback for me.

  • Jarmin Geordie

If I had to vote off this list it must be De Jong (if he gets fit and remians so) with Colback as second choice, I#m not convinced the other 4 will be here next season

  • PhilYare

Moussa Sissoko’s future is not at newcastle united
Daryl Janmaat’s future is not at newcastle united

Siem de Jong has not played 45 minutes for this club and hasn’t proved anything – how many games had rob lee played before he was made captain?

Jack Colback is a very very average player signed from the filth, how can anyone be made captain after his 0-3 celebrations, we must be mugs
Tim Krul parhaps but is a goalkeeper the right choice for captain??

Fabricio Coloccini’s form has been terrible but at least hes got the experience behind him

We need players desperately with heart and desire then maybe in time we’d discover a suitable candidate

    Malcolm mcdonald

why is Tiote not on the list of candidates?
He played his best football when temp captain.
    Rose to the occasion
Maybe he is off also ?
