Young Newcastle star Adam Armstrong has celebrated his first match as England Captain by hitting two stunning first half goals.

England lead Switzerland 4-0 at half-time in this international Under 18s encounter.

Captaining his country for the first time, Armstrong has been in inspired form and quite literally led his country from the front.

The official England Twitter feed describing his goals:

“GOAL – Adam Armstrong curls home a free-kick for his second and England U18s’ fourth on 37 mins. 4-0”

GOAL – What a goal from the U18s captain Adam Armstrong as he flicks the ball up and smashes it inside the top corner on 16 minutes. 2-0.”

Armstrong only turned 18 last month and is very highly regarded in the England set-up, let us hope he is handled right by Newcastle and maybe given a run until the end of this season with relegation pretty much ruled out and the absence of Papiss Cisse leaving few other options.

After 50 minutes Adam Armstrong was substituted with England coasting to victory, his job done.

England eventually running out 6-1 winners.

    Well Done Arma…and Vuckic

When I commented last week on the Jonas article… that the
Toon’s next few years had to be in the hand’s of our young players including
Armstrong, and Vuckic…rather than re-signing players over 32+ years (who have
never been very influential in terms of goals, assists or critical defensive

…It really amazed me how many on here told me that those 2
lads would never be good enough to make it in the PL!!!

We have two great prospects in Adam and Freddie and are now the third best academy in the premier league for producing players that go onto play in the Premier League on a regular basis .So well done Newcastle and congratulations Adam. Will always remember your wonder goal at Derby County in the cup last season brilliant.
