Many fans have wondered what had happened to Rolando Aarons who has been out for four months since suffering a recurrence of his hamstring problem, after Alan Pardew rushed him back too early for the Man City League Cup win and Liverpool home match.

No updates had been forthcoming from the club and with not a single reserve match outing, many fans have assumed that his refusal to sign a new contract is tied up with his disappearance.

However, whatever the truth or not of that scenario, John Carver has now announced that Aarons has now got another injury problem which will keep him out of the Manchester United match on Wednesday, plus probably the Everton match a week on Sunday.

John Carver asked by the Shields Gazette about Rolando Aarons’ availability:

“A week to 10 days – we are being careful with him, he has a hamstring issue and has tweaked his thigh.”

Whether the young winger would have been involved anyway is an unknown, but hopefully we will see him before the end of the season and fingers crossed, a new contract signed.

  • dont believe the hype

I wonder if his ‘injuries’ are being caused by his refusal to sign a new deal or am I just getting cynical after eight years of lies and deceit.

I can’t see any logic in a conspiracy theory – we are a selling club, he is worth money, he has a contract for next season – to maximise his sale value the club must play him and prove his worth – fatso may be stupid about football but not about profits

  • dont believe the hype

    Supermac,
His contract is up this summer and so far he has refused to sign the new one they’ve offered, penny pinching or prudence, you decide for yourself.

  • DownUnderMag

supermacsnewname the problem is, his contract is up and we won’t get anywhere near value for money for him if it goes to tribunal.  Being a selling club only works if you have players tied up on long contracts and hold all the aces when other clubs want to buy them.

DownUnderMag supermacsnewname I’m baseing my point on heaving read that we have a 12 month option on him – I may be wrong
there is no skin off his nose to take a new contract then leave – no one can keep a player these days
