North Shields are on their way to Wembley

North Shields are on their way to Wembley to face Glossop North End in the FA Vase final.

Holding a one goal lead after the long trek to Wiltshire weekend, North Shields eventually overpowered Highworth Town of the Hellenic League Premier Division 2-0 on home turf.

A sell-out crowd saw the Geordies win 3-0 on aggregate, thanks to goals from Gaz Bainbridge and Dean Holmes.

Recent years have now seen Whitley Bay, Bishop Auckland, Gateshead, North Shields and even the mackems(!) make it to Wembley, a shame Mike Ashley isn’t interested…

At the moment, North Shields FC’s Wembley appearance clashes with Newcastle’s home match with West Brom, I imagine a fair few season ticket holders will fancy a trip to the capital for potential silverware and excitement rather than more depressing stuff at St. James’ Park.

You can see the winning goal from the away leg below.
