Newcastle striker grabs winner for England
Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong may be getting limited opportunities at club level but he showed his worth for England earlier today.
The Geordie striker scored the only goal of the game as England Under 18s beat Switzerland 1-0 at St. George’s Park.
After a mediocre first-half, it only took England three minutes after the restart to get the vital goal.
Taylor Moore played in Armstrong and the keeper saved his first effort, the Newcastle striker knocking the ball home as it came back out to him.
Having a lively game, Adam Armstrong was involved in a number of moves that should have brought more goals, with the goalscorer also unlucky to see the Swiss header do well to keep his header out.
Armstrong and his England teammates meet Switzerland again this week at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium, with kick-off at 5.30pm on Saturday.
