Newcastle defender ruled out until May
Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara has been ruled out at least until May.
The news means that United will be playing without a specialist left-back for the foreseeable future, with Davide Santon having being moved on and Paul Dummett already confirmed as missing the rest of the campaign.
John Carver has told the local papers that Haidara is suffering from an ‘ongoing’ knee injury but hopes to have him back sometime in May.
Coloccini is due to return on 19 April for the Tottenham home match which would allow the impressive Daryl Janmaat to return to right-back, meaning Ryan Taylor could switch over to the left where he has filled in on many occasions.
However, against Sunderland and Liverpool it appears almost certain that United will have arguably their two most effective players having to play out of position once again.
Jack Colback likely to stay at left-back and Janmaat in the middle of defence.
