John Carver ‘It’s difficult for Manchester United fans’

John Carver says that it is difficult for Manchester United fans because of the style of football they are watching now.

The Newcastle United Head Coach saying that under Louis Van Gaal it is a more patient build up based on keeping the ball, as opposed to the more attacking play they saw under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Carver didn’t go on to say whether he thought it was also difficult for Newcastle fans watching the team play now…but he has indicated that he has got a cunning plan up his sleeve to beat Manchester United on Wednesday night.

John Carver:

“It’s difficult for Manchester United fans because they have seen how entertaining (Man Utd previously were)…they were always on the front foot, going forward, lots of crosses….exciting football.

“Now (under Louis Van Gaal) it has changed slightly because the manager’s come in and he has got a different style. It is a patient build up, lots of possession, lots of different systems which can sometimes be confusing.”

Possession football:

“But the principles are the same, likes to keep possession, get the ball into wide areas and get the ball in the box.

“I can see though why the fans are getting a little bit frustrated with it.”

The Newcastle Head Coach was also asked if he would be replicating some of the long ball football that helped produce the 3-0 win over Manchester United in 2012 at St. James’ Park?

“You have to find a way of upsetting them, they are a different side to that night.

“So we have to find a different way of breaking them down, but we’ve worked on that.

“We understand how we can do that and I’m going to keep that right inside (me).”
