John Carver has today admitted that Newcastle may have to look at bringing in at least one free agent if there are any other injuries.

Despite both player and Head Coach initially suggesting he should be alright  for the Manchester United match, it now looks as though Massadio Haidara will miss the game.

The Shields Gazette reported John Carver said that the French left-back has fluid on the knee and will likely miss tomorrow’s game – how long he could be out for is unknown.

Loaning out Remie Streete and Davide Santon in January, as well as selling Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, whilst bringing nobody in.

The team boss admits that Newcastle United could shortly be in the embarrassing position of having to consider bringing in an out of contract player to fill in, if one or more other injuries strike.

Based on his performances since coming into the team (with the exception of the Hull game) it’s a blessing that Haidara is injured, Taylor can’t possibly be any worse whilst adding a threat at set pieces.

  • dont believe the hype

RTaylor is a right sided midfielder who only deputised as a LB due to previous penny pinching, we seriously rode our luck in that eleven match unbeaten run, as soon as opposing teams sussed it he got skinned more often than not. Shambles.

    Play Jonas at left back.

PeterS84 I agree, after all he did play there for Argentina.

Anyone available who’ll play for a pie and pea supper ?

Steve1221 I think playing Raylor at LB is a waste to be honest.

Imagine the deliveries a front two (now that Carver has hopefully seen the light) could get with both Raylor AND Janmaat crossing from the right hand side and Sammy providing some good deliveries from the left?

Stick Sissoko in a more advanced role once Colback is back playing and I think that is looking a very good side – other than central defence being a bit suspect.  But that seems to be the problem we’ve all had for so long with the club policy, we can put together a very good side as long as the right personnel were fit and able to play.  The problems arise because of a total lack of depth.  I don’t think it would take much to turn us into a force again, not title winning, but certainly challenging the top 6 again, sadly that minimal investment doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.

DownUnderMag Steve1221 Let me get this right again…we are a Premiership Club with 50,000 Crowd and 10th Richest Brit …and out of contract players…Disgrace…a shambles

Andy Obrien is available. He was released by the Vancouver Whitecaps at the end of last season. He had a real steady season, the fans loved him. Honest performance every game. I know it’s MLS and but we are desperate for bodies, Andy knows the lay of the land. Be cheap pick up for insurance at centre back.
