Gateshead and Newcastle have agreed that United pair Callum Roberts and Adam Campbell will stay at the International Stadium until the end of this season.
The pair began their one month loan in January and it was due to end this Saturday.
Seventeen year old Roberts has made two appearances, while Adam Campbell has scored three in the four matches he has played.
With his contract ending this summer, it is vital for the twenty year old striker to get pitch-time as he looks to secure a new club for next season.
Heed Army manager Gary Mills was predictably pleased by the longer term agreement;
“It’s good news as we will have both of them available if we do, fingers crossed, make it to the play-offs, which is great for us.
“Now we’re looking forward to the challenge ahead, we have to show that we have that desire and self-belief to make it into the top five.”
Gateshead are currently six points off the play-off places but have up to four games in hand on some of their rivals.
