Newcastle United have more goalscorers in the Premier League this season than any other club apart from Arsenal, but what does it all mean?

That Remy Cabella strike at Hull and the Yoan Gouffran goals rush of recent weeks have sent United up to second in this table.

Altogether, Newcastle have thirteen different league goalscorers this season, with Papiss Cisse and Ayoze Perez weighing in with 14 between them, while the other 15 are spread around 11 different players.

Cisse (9), Perez (5), Sissoko (2), Ameobi (2), Colback (2), Gouffran (2), Aarons (1), Cabella (1), Coloccini (1), Janmaat (1), Obertan (1), Williamson (1), Steven Taylor (1)

You can hardly claim that it is the number of goals overall that are responsible, seen as the likes of Arsenal at the top have scored 15 more and Chelsea in third have 23 extra.

I think the stats show that at least up to a point Newcastle are getting extra players a little more into the box but having not a single midfielder/winger with more than two goals is a serious weakness.

As of course is having another out and out goalscorer to get goals regularly, there has been a big element of luck that Papiss Cisse has scored so many goals from so few chances – becoming the top Premier League goalscorer in terms of minutes per goal this season.

As Saturday at Hull showed thoug,h with all three goals and especially Sammy’s 35 yarder – the name of the game is having a shot, if you don’t buy a ticket you don’t win the…

It is good that we have a number of different players scoring. Although so many scorers is largely due to the injuries the squad has suffered so the goals are spread out between all the players filling gaps. I still think some of them need to contribute more however. Sissoko should be getting more than 2 goals as he certainly has the ability as does Cabella although he was benched and adjusting.

Hey…the Mag’s produced a stat that doesn’t have the Toon at
the bottom end…that’s a nice change…probably it means that without having
Pappiss to rely on from the start of games… more players have been told to take
    some responsibility for scoring.

Ayoze has done brilliantly on his own for a large part of
our games, Cabella is now proving his worth, and now is the time for Riviere to
take some of the weight followed hopefully soon by De Jong.

    It’s also very encouraging
to see some of our midfielders scoring, cos apart from Cabaye (Nolan) that has
been a barren area for many seasons.
