In the latest twist on the Newcastle head coach position, Remi Garde says confidentiality and respect for NUFC means he can’t say more.
Asked again about the United job, the former Lyon boss has dropped a big hint that there could be further to come with regard to himself and Newcastle.
If there was no possibility then you’d imagine he would have just made it plain but then there again, experience tells us that taking anything at face value is a dangerous thing where Mike Ashley and Newcastle United are concerned.
“I have a duty of confidentiality in this matter to Newcastle, I will be very honest with respect to the leaders of Newcastle, I can’t say more.”
Garde has also recently said:
“I can’t say that I am desperate to return to the bench, far from it, but it is easy for me to say that I loved the coaching experience (at Lyon).
“However, I needed to recover and rejuvenate myself though I had probably caught the bug for this profession.
“I don’t close the door to anything or to take another year off, or to dive into a project that would suit me.”
Yesterday it was reports from France saying that sources close to St. Etienne manager Christophe Galtier, were suggesting he could be interesting in the summer having taken his club as far as he believes he can.
Once again though we are all wondering what backing any new man would get and whether they would have the flexibility on offer to be able to do the job.
You would hope one thing is for sure though, surely John Carver can’t get it long-term unless there is a massive improvement on one win in eight games, in the remaining 12 matches. Though the bookies do still make him odds-on favourite…
