Perez dropped and Jonas Gutierrez returns on the bench as Riviere, Obertan, Abeid and Ameobi recalled.

Big changes for John Carver as he picks his starting eleven in a game that is surely a must win against arguably the worst team in the Premier League.

They may be second bottom but with six defeats in a row, Villa look to be heading only one way.

Carver has Colback suspended and has also dropped Anita, Gouffran and Perez in a much changed line-up.

Starting 11 v Villa:

Krul, Janmaat, Williamson, Coloccini, Haidara, Obertan, Abeid, Sissoko, Ameobi, Riviere, Cisse

On the bench:

Woodman, Ryan Taylor, Anita, Gouffran, Gutierrez, Perez, Armstrong

Believe it or not I’ve seen worst benches at NUFC but that must be one of the weakest in league

  • alreet

pretty poor bench but really hope Guti gets 10 minutes at least. First team looks ok and yey finally someone uses a true 4-4-2. Come on, 2 real strikers up there supporting each other, just need obertan and ameobi to provide the bullits

I’d have liked to have seen Ayoze in a proper 4-4-2 but he’s looked tired recently and Riv needs some game time.
Hopefully Jonas can get the fans singing again

Looks good on paper. Just wish Carver had started his tenure with this sort of line up rather than just following pardew and then being forced into change by rubbish displays. Still down to the players and how well they’re organised of course; games aren’t won on paper.

mentalman Perez..Dropped..Give over !! He needs to play with a proper striker alongside him(he is class)

  • alreet

abeid is playing his socks off, williamson needs to learn to head away instead of upwards and ameobi needs to get further up the wing and support haidara.

other than that not a bad half.

  • mentalman

Janmaat is providing the bullet’s, 6th assist this season

  • alreet

need to hook ameobi for guti now

  • Greekgeordie

Perez was not dropped the lad needed a rest and that what he got, anyway he was on the bench if things did not go right, the Mag must start thinking positive, 35 points with 11 games to go, why not aim for top 6 or 7?
