Have NUFC ever had worse record than this against a club?
I know that we have had a miserable record against their neighbours, especially when it came to winning at Old Trafford, but can any past horrors compare to this Manchester City one?
The last 462 minutes of football between the two clubs in the Premier League has seen Manchester City score 18 goals and Newcastle not a single one.
This works out at having to wait on average a little less than 26 minutes for the next goal to come along in the United net.
Working backwards the scorelines have been 0-5, 0-2, 0-2, 0-4, 0-4 and 1-3.
Demba Ba scoring that consolation at 2-0 down at St.James’ Park back in 2012, though Yaya Toure added a third in the 78th minute.
So five full matches and the final 12 minutes of that game have seen the 18 goals go in.
I know we have had terrible spells against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United but have we ever gone more than five games without a single goal and conceding so many (18) without reply?
