Newcastle United auction raises £25,000
An auction of Newcastle United memorabilia has raised a higher than expected £25,000.
A significant portion of the sale by Anderson and Garland were items owned by former United Director Robert McKenzie.
An anonymous buyer paid £3,800 for a pair of medals then owned by McKenzie, a 1911 Northumberand Hospital one, plus a 1924 FA Cup Winners medal from Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
Signed shirts, programmes and other memorabilia also went under the hammer, with another significant purchase being a collection of around 2,000 photographs covering life at Newcastle United, that lot going for £8,300.
