In an interview with BeIN SPORTS, the St.Etienne manager Christophe Galtier has talked about the rumours that he’d been approached by Newcastle to replace Alan Pardew .

His quotes casting further doubt that there was actually any serious intent by Mike Ashley to replace Pardew with a credible manager/head coach.

Galtier treating the notion as a bit of a joke when asked about it;

“I have not had any discussion or any approach from Newcastle.

“I read this when I was on vacation. My kids sent me a text in English for a laugh and I didn’t understand. The text said ‘Read the papers!'”

“I have had no contact with Newcastle and  I am not out of contract, my only goal is to succeed in St.Etienne . The rumours of my departure to Marseille? More fantasies peddled by some. I’m not going to OM (Marseille) . Period! “

  • Mark Crossling

Seeing as we were talking to Remi Garde I’m not surprised he wasn’t approached

  • hettonmag

I  just wish the  small  majority of  people  who come on this sight  backing this  awful regime realise just what they are about, they constantly try to pull the wool  over  supporters eyes. The  lies,  telling people we have 80 applicants  for the head coach,  we are doing due diligence   its all  a load of  bull  they remind me of some back  street  garage spivs not a multi million pound  business

  • Bills frollocks

I see Carver is already talking the same crap Pardew used to talk. Examples being, ” we didn’t need players in the January transfer window” also ” I pick the team” and ” I take orders from no one” yeah OK. What an idiot.

  • MalcolmRynn

hettonmag  Exactly mate you have got it spot on

  • RobBrown

Wow – what a revelation . It turns out that one of the stories made up by the press was not true and this proves Ashley to be a liar with no ambition.

Galtier was not approached, therefore nobody was approached

Is this Monty Python or what?

Of course , correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t actually remember Newcastle saying they had approached Galltier.

Hetton Mag – why do you think they would say something as outrageous as having received 80 applications for the position if it was not true? Don’t you think they know how OTT that sounds?
If they were going to lie don’t you think they would say 20 applicants?

    And it’s “site”, not “sight”.

Now there’s the problem. How can you expect to be taken seriously when you can’t spell?

  • hettonmag

RobBrown  So you obviously believe everything that comes out of the club  and who the hell do you think you are picking up on my grammar you come across as some sort of snob the post wasn’t written for the likes of you there you go have another go at me I haven’t  put any comers in, I mean this club doesn’t do outrageous things do they you  snobbish  little person.

  • TonyMarkElsender

Ashley caught lying again, I’m shocked

  • MalcolmRynn

It was Charnley who made the claim not Ashley (who is a proven liar anyway) if his actions e.g. The appointment of Kinnear, lack of investment in players , the business with Rangers had failed to convince you that he lacks ambition then you are an idiot a Mackem or both

  • Double Carpet

    Comers???
    You mean commas, right?

  • Double Carpet

Jesus wept, it’s Jackanory time again.
I absolutely cannot stand Ashley and his lack of ambition, but this is just plain rubbish.
Galtier said nothing of the sort; the club did not make an approach, it was pure press speculation; there is no story here, other than the author has once again fabricated a headline which has no bearing on the truth.
Slag off the regime as much as you like, but at least do it based on the truth. Let’s face it, you’re hardly short of material.
Made up nonsense likes this makes you (the author) look stupid – which I couldn’t care less about – but much worse, by association it makes other Newcastle fans look stupid as well.

  • Double Carpet

Where’s the lie? When/where did he claim he’d approached Galtier?

  • hettonmag

Double Carpet  Cheers  never was much good at English at school, but you don’t have to have a high IQ  to be passionate about the club you love.

  • Double Carpet

Yep, agreed. Just type slower, predictive text is murder! Gets me regularly.

  • Greekgeordie

I have come to the conclusion that the Mag is there to bring up controversy and unrest between the fans, every one is entitled to an opinion, but facts are facts and by making up stories does not help the club’s problem.

  • Double Carpet

Spot on. There’s so much that is genuinely worth questioning and comment, and this plum and his fellow ‘staff’ writers continue to lie – oh the irony given their accusations against Ashley.
Another point though, ‘staff writers’. This implies it’s not just a blog site, the word ‘staff’ implies they get paid. For this [email protected] Unbelievable.

  • supermacsnewname

fatso’s moto is – I can fool some of the people all of the time
    – and all of the people some of the time
    – but experience proves I can fool all geordies all of the time
    – just for fun
    – the millions I make is the main thing
    – and NUFC? I’ll bin it when I’ve had enough and do something else

  • toon tony

Predictive text makes you look like a caft dunt. .

  • dav_art

Articles like this have exactly the opposite effect to their intent. Making up stuff i.e.lies about the regime into an attempt to discredit it. You might win more people over to your point of view if you stick to facts and not histrionic hyperbole like this, and almost every other article on this site.

  • MalcolmRynn

    dav_art
dav_art  They don’t need to make things up to discredit this shower since he took the club over, appointment of Wise and Jimenez, signing 2 players who had never been seen live Xsico and Gonzalez, an owner who has been proved to be liar in court,, who wouldn’t sack his manager after a disgraceful lack of discipline, am owner who appointed Kinnear (and was announced by Kinnear himself on Sky Sports on a Sunday afternoon after he had a couple of pints), an owner who couldn’t care less about Newcastle fans and is more interested in profit, the latest fiasco at Rangers. And much more, the regime is making a pretty good job of discrediting itself without the help of the media.

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn dav_art If they don’t need to why do they?

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn dav_art  So Keegan had went to watch Darron Mcdonagh, Peter Garland, Peter Cormack who was his mates son (whats the difference) Alex Mathie, Mike Hooper (from Liverpool) mike Jeffery, Chris Holland Jason Drysdale, Steve Guppy, Paul Kitson, Jimmy Crawford, David Etock.
But of course his real awful signing
The signing of keith Gillespie not that Gilespie wasn’t alright but he gifted man u the title for a fair few years to come with the player going the other way

  • tyneside tommo

Now now one thing at a time – HettonMag only just learned to do joined up writing. Teacher is keeping the art of commas til next month. We wouldn’t want to overtax the boy

  • MalcolmRynn

No Brainer MalcolmRynn dav_art  What on earth are talking about? you have completely gone off on a tangent here this has nothing to do with Ashley and his cronies. Ps I was there the night that Gillespie and Asprilla destroyed Barcelona and for that night alone and the enjoyment he gave me will take some beating.

  • No Brainer

hettonmag Double Carpet This is true but comprehension is important. The lack of it is most probably the root of the unwarranted hate that is aimed the clubs current management.
Very few can come to the terms that the club is currently doing just fine and building steadily. Using folklore, rumour, myth and peculiar self loathing as a justification to vent their spleen the imbeciles have  sited the following for a reason to hate the regime.
1.Pardew got the job as the result of a gambling debt.
2.Mike Ashley takes millions of the club and doesn’t reduce the debt he took on when buying the club.
    3. Joe Kinnear is a drinking buddy living near the same pub.
    4. Andy Carroll was forced out.
    5. Cabaye was forced out.
    6. Ashley’s wife order a security guard to let her in he is now a rubbish picker.
    7. Mike Ashley only wants mid table finish. seemingly saying tenth place minimum means 10th place only how absurd.
    8. The club don’t want cup runs – 2 qtr finals in last 3 years
    9. He is selling the club – to who?
    10. He forces the manager/coach to play weekend sides.

All of which are complete rubbish.

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn No Brainer dav_art Who did ? Were you really there?

  • MalcolmRynn

Yes was were you? Gillespie provided 2 excellent crosses for Asprilla yo score. Ps how you can mention those 2 clowns in the same breath as Keegan who so nearly won us the league is unbelievable. Yes we didn’t but some of the football was breath taking. One of Keegan’s first buys was Kilcline who was superb he also signed Shearer and venison

  • hettonmag

MalcolmRynn No Brainer dav_art It  defo beat anything this shower has produced  in  8 years.

  • hettonmag

tyneside tommo  Never done joined up writing in my life but I have got through 50 years of work I suppose with being thick, just like the nobs who support this regime

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn Wise also signed colo and Jonas

  • Mal44

I really like .com and used to look forward to the delivery of ‘The Mag’ but regrettably this site is fast becoming a joke. What exactly is the point of an article like this?; with the addition of the now regular misleading headline. I think that I’ll stick to my daily newspaper in future. Might come back in a few weeks to see if it’s improved.

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn made what claim go on write it out

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn hettonmag Who do you take your orders from?

  • No Brainer

hettonmag So they have not had 80 applicants for the job.

You do realise that agents from all over the world will have sent their clients details C.V. resume’s in to nufc.

  • No Brainer

    hettonmag RobBrown Not quite true
Where do you get your information from then?

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn NO i sold my ticket for Fifty quid and put that towards flying with Monarch out of gatwick to barca on the toon airforce plane to have an amazing 30 hours in an amazing city

Shame there was no Barca fans there but we had a riot.

    I was in the bulls

  • MalcolmRynn

So why have they publically stated that cups are not important and why do we always play weakened teams

  • MalcolmRynn

That we had 80 applicants for the job

  • No Brainer

    MalcolmRynn So there wasn’t

  • MalcolmRynn

Bloody hell and you think he deserves credit for that? Are you saying that we should have stuck with Wise and Jimenez? Who have actually had a lawsuit against each other, I bet (if you actually support Newcastle)don’t actually go to the matches. In fact people like yourself have me at a loss for words and probably support the Mackems I can’t see any other possible reason for backing this regime. I suppose you think appointing Kinnear was a good move as well? Ps I will be in the Marlborough club from 11 am tomorrow , pps you don’t go by the name of Noodlebug on another forum do you

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn The line was “cups are not our priority, achieving as high a league position as possible is the main focus”
are the exact words he used.

To me that means we want to do as well in the league as possible and win the cups which lets be honest the same sentiment as the nufc fans judging by the attendances of the cup games despite vast reduced prices.

As for the reality though we have had 2 qtr final cups in the last three years, that does not mean we aren’t trying. As for weakened teams

Well our weakend team scored as many legitimate goals as Leicester did they not. one player considered a weaker player then Cabella is now a must starter!!!

As for weakened team against spurs DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY INJURIES WE HAD?

For crying out loud you probably think Ashley ran them down in his helicopter

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn Absolutely not saying we should have stuck with them just as we shouldn’t all believe Keegan is god he’s just a bloke who had good three years for us with more money to spend on players than any other manager in the history of football.

  • No Brainer

    MalcolmRynn I’m not forkinnear I wasn’t forkinnear I won’t be forkinnear.

But i may be in the club tomorrow

  • hettonmag

MalcolmRynn Malcolm  you are  wasting your time  mate  trying to  convert these supposed  supporters, I just wonder if they worked for that company  which  Ashley  has just shut down  in Scotland  without any redundancies, would  they still think he  is the best thing that’s ever happened   to NUFC.

  • MalcolmRynn

I couldn’t give a sh..t if you come and see me, I have plenty mates to have s bit sensible crack with, and I am not name calling it’s just that there is an idiot called Noodlebug on the Ic newcastle forum who also seems to think that Ashley can do no wrong even though it is obvious to most sane people that his sole purpose is to use Newcastle as a marketing tool for Sports direct. He has no intention of trying to push on towards the top 8 and does not compete financially with teams well below us in the league

  • No Brainer

hettonmag MalcolmRynn I don’t give a flying about those prancing around in fancy type stores that sell a few clothes at ridiculous prices whilst the staff fanny on. If he has lost millions on what he paid for the company tough he took a risk and mucked it up blah i won’t feel sorry for him or those still working for a company thats selling nothing

  • No Brainer

Double Carpet what like footy and who will be the starting line up tmrw and are we gana win

  • v0ices

hettonmag MalcolmRynn I’m sure they will make some pro Ashley statement about it just as they are paid to do.

  • MalcolmRynn

Cheers mate it beggars belief that any true Newcastle supporter can have anything positive to say about our owner and board. What other premier league club would appoint the chief scout (who has been sacked by three lower league clubs) to be involved in the recruitment of our new “head coach”

  • hettonmag

No Brainer hettonmag MalcolmRynn Fantastic a bet that makes you feet quite chuffed with yourself.

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn oh he has done wrong but your just a bit of a drama queen over the top. If it is as a marketing tool then he is clever enough to realise that being number 1 will deliver that better.

Please use MCFC V HCFC today as a subtle example of why its folly to spend hundreds of millions on a footballer.

    Slow sensible building is best.

You are avoiding the question what did you mean by I’ll be in the marlbrough, or where you just losing it a bit.

    Have you ever done wrong?

  • MalcolmRynn

I meant absolutely nothing by saying I will be in the Marlboiugh apart from the fact that I do actually support my team. For sensible spending look at Southampton. If we were actually building sensibly then I would accept it, but our transfer policy is ridiculous. Why only but players with a sell on value? Pelle has improved Southampton but we will never buy a player like him because he does not fit our blueprint. That is my last word because as hetton mag has stated its pointless arguing with you. We have not made any progress whatsoever since Ashley took over and in fact spent a season in the championship due to his ignorance of football matters. We still have the same three centre halves (who would struggle to get in any other side) that we had in the championship. How is this sensible building ?

  • hettonmag

No Brainer MalcolmRynn  Slow sensible building  ha ha  ha  we have gone backwards since we finished  5th, but hold on wait a minute  oh yes the bank balance has gone up,  is that where you get your thrill watching the finances  going up.

  • No Brainer

MalcolmRynn I am an untrue nufc fan at least carr’s a geordie

  • MalcolmRynn

    Which Carr is that ?

  • cwtoon88

More evidence that the ‘search’ didnt happen and it was all window dressing to appoint John the thug

  • newcastle7

John Carver was not the thug it was the fans at Southampton who wanted us to lose from bar loco who were to blame the anti Pardew men thugs.Thank god these awful people have long gone.

  • MalcolmRynn

Is that the Keegan that saved Newcastle from relegation to the old third division ? here is a list of some of the players he bought Andy Cole, Robert Lee, Peter Beardsley, Phillipe Albert, David Ginola, Les Ferdinand, Alan Shearer, Warren Barton yes that must be a worse track record than Wise and Jimenez, remind me again of their wonderful captures ? I will start you off, Gonzales, Xsico, Joanas (flattered to deceive), Collocini (hitty, missy). Anyone who didn’t enjoy those 5 years of wonderful football when we were everyone’s favourite second team is not a proper football supporter yes we spent money, but unfortunately the stark reality is that it is necessary to succeed in the top flight. Since Ashley took over I believe he has made a profit on transfers. One thing is certain we are bottom of the league as premiership spenders since he took over .

  • MalcolmRynn

So it’s Keegan’s fault that Ashley is a total moron, it was proven in a court of law that Ashley is a liar. Look at the position we were in when Keegan came compared to our position when we left

  • v0ices

newcastle7 could not agree more thank god that awful pardew is gone.

  • v0ices

1957 the myth of Keegan spending a fortune, like the myth of Ashley’s turn around of the clubs finances. Keegan spent very little in his first two years and was a astute seller.

  • cwtoon88

newcastle7 the fans who had spent hundreds of their hard earned to be there, who had took part in a peaceful protest against a manager  who through his actions and the set up of his team deserved protest,  John the thug went over and kicked off as that’s all he does, his prime contribution in the time under Bobby he keeps talking about was getting in a fight with Bellamy in the airport.
The majority of those fans will still be their and despite all logic against it a lot of them are giving Carver more of a chance than he deserves

  • MalcolmRynn

1957  Is that with Wise as Foootball director? and lying about the sale of Milner and bringing in 2 players who no one had actually seen and were useless to the extreme e.g. Xsico and Gonzales (probably to line the pockets of the odious Wise and Jimenez)Yes I can imagine any manager putting up with that, Keegan has publically stated that Newcastle will never win anything with Ashley as owner, do you disagree with that statement?

  • MalcolmRynn

1957  So what good is having excellent finances? (apart from for Ashley) when we have no intention of actually spending any of it to improve our playing squad. Sorry I couldn’t reply yesterday I was at the match watching a pile of rubbish from both teams.
