Newcastle winger/forward Sammy Ameobi has been offered a new deal by United according to reports this morning.

Shola’s younger brother turns 23 in May and will be out of contract the following month unless a new deal is agreed.

The Sunday Sun say that Sammy Ameobi and his representatives are currently in talks with Newcastle to try and reach a compromise on a contract extension.

Fans will be split as to the player’s future, in his Newcastle Premier League career to date he has contributed two goals and three assists in 46 appearances, though the majority of those have been as a substitute.

Two cracking goals against Hull and Spurs this season have suggested he has ability but he also has an uncanny knack of being totally anonymous in other matches.

A two year deal would surely be the very maximum that could be offered for a player who has shown so little in his career so far.

Anything longer and supporters may fear this is a misplaced attempt at a ‘feel good’ deal for Newcastle fans, with Sammy ending up on a deal for life like his older brother.

Three year feal 30-40k per week if he don’t improve a bit more sell him to the championship for 3-4 mil every one is a winne.

  • AshfordDeanoP

Not good enough even for a squad player. We need to set our sights higher

  • mentalman

30-40k per week you’ll be lucky if he’s been offered 8.

  • No Brainer

Knowing that 3 of the kids in glasgow are on more than 8 and one on 15k it would be a surprise that he won’t hace been offered significantly more.
more concerning though is aarons who has refused 25k these agents are ruining the game

  • Corkyjohn

Thats as high as we can set our sights under this regime so better get used to it….

  • wor monga

That’s a good move for both the club and the lad…he’s shown
enough improvement this season to prove he can fit in at PL level…just needs
more work on building up his strength / stamina for next season.

Can’t wait for Carver to come out with “it’s like signing a new player “…

  • toonterrier

Twenty three year old and well below the standard required. The lads not good enough for the premier league and he should be moved on. Haven’t the club learned nothing from the fourteen years his brother spent here and maybe had one decent game in ten (if that). Send him to Rangers on a one way ticket. Spoils my day when I go to games and see him sauntering up the pitch and doing very little. A passenger we could do without.

  • RossYogiGraver

No you idiotic moron its Ashley who is ruining things. We don’t pay the going rate for players they go to a club who will that is obvious. Our wage structure at Newcastle is embarrassing compared to our rivals

  • Corkyjohn

    Is this Derek Llambias?

  • No Brainer

Nufc wages are lower than only 7 other clubs in england

  • No Brainer

    No

  • Steve1221

So the going rate for someone with 2 first team starts and who may be injury prone is more than 26k?
