After Saturday’s match at the Etihad, we thought we’d search out what Manchester City fans had to say about the match and Newcastle United.

Their biggest Premier League win in 11 months and the match won in only 27 seconds, what would the blue half of Manchester have to say?

We visited a few different Man City forums and there were some interesting takes on the match and our club…

‘Even an idiot could see we took our foot of the gas after we got the fifth, we still got a chance or two but the minds of the players were not on scoring by then.’

‘I get the point that after being 5-0 up after 60 minutes that we should (and indeed could) have gone on to score more goals in order to improve our goals difference tally when compared to Chelsea. So no need to worry and let’s enjoy the victory over the Geordies.’

‘No need to kill ourselves trying for a 10-0 win was there?. Still should have a lot in the tank for Barca on Tuesday. Easiest win we will ever get this evening, well done Blues.’

‘My only gripe with the game is we went off the boil when we could have really gone to town on a poor Newcastle team, it may sound hard on the team but if I was the manager I would go to town on them, for not going for as many goals as they could get.’

‘5-0 was enough, could have had more but i’m very happy with the result. Some can find a negative in anything.’

‘I remember that for the decades before the money came in, I used to always consider that there was a lot of affinity between the fans of CITY, Newcastle, Villa, West Ham etc. I am just grateful that the sheik chose us (he could have chosen any club) so that I do not have that pain anymore.’

‘They are more pessimistic even than City fans.’

‘Newcastle would be ideal candidates for a bit of investment if not for this ffp bollocks. Especially with the new tv deal. I wonder how much of that will end up disappearing.’

‘A new owner with a few quid chucks in similar investment as a one off even; Newcastle suddenly have a start at the top 6.’

‘Too much passing and not enough shooting.’

‘Anyone starting to think we can make a game of it against Barca?!’

‘Barca are a shade better than Newcastle.’

‘Defending shaky at times but Hart had it under control mostly.’

‘Enjoyable but let’s not get carried away. Newcastle were absolute dogs**t and Dzeko decided to wake up because Bony has arrived.’

‘While there was some excellent play from our lads, I thought Newcastle allowed us to do exactly as we wished….we probably should have scored 10.’

‘I seem to be alone in thinking that at least in the first half Newcastle weren’t that bad.’

‘Bit pi**ed off we declared at five with 38 minutes remaining.’

‘Up here in Newcastle you can feel the supporters pain.’

‘If I were a Newcastle fan, I’d be mightily pissed off about their attitude for the last twenty minutes or so. Granted, they’d been blown away, it was over. But they actually played as if they’d got a point, and they were happy with it. I would have expected them to at least try to get a goal back, to salvage a bit of self-respect, and to offer something to the travelling fans.’

  • I now feel much better for knowing what a few fans of the opposition thought…

  • dont believe the hype

The trouble is though they think the season is over, this blatant lack of ambition is filtering through and they’ve given up I wonder if they’ve decided amongst them selves which games they’re going to try in knowing eight points should do it. They could even be feeling a bit hard done by, ripped off even. Imagine a painters  gaffer saying I’ll give you a bonus if you finish those rooms then loaning out all your paint brushes. How can they have any respect for the shirt when the owner wants to sell them as quick as possible while openly putting out a message that success is not part of the plan.

I think we looked canny up until they scored their first goal and then it went downhill. Yes I thought we lasted at least 20 seconds of reasonable play before any errors appeared.

well having read your posts over the last couple of years it’s not surprising you’ve found something positive from the humping…well done.

spot on, the players know the season ends in January, it’s filtered down from the fat leech owner all the way to the fans, well done fat mike.

Thought we controlled the midfield for the first half but things went against us and Hart was in fine form saving brilliantly from Jammet and Cisse played better than the last two years down there.Man City a disgrace of a club who yesterday charged a two year old twenty eight pounds to get into the match,a fifteen year old thirty one and my daughter who is still at school THIRTY NINE. Thats why I love Mike Ashley hate city till I die not a family club just for the rich .Man City might win trophies but the real fans priced out        R.I.P.

  • Chemical Dave there was nothing positive from the game at all from a Newcastle perspective but I don’t need some snippets from a few smug Man City fans to confirm how poor we were – I think most of us could work that out for ourselves. There used to be some good articles on here but now it seems a desparation to publish an article about absolutely anything.

Please don’t do a ‘what the opposition fans think’ after the upcoming game at Sunderland – that could make painful reading. The warm weather training worked didn’t it. Sorry effort from a sorry regime.

Where are you Mr No Brains…..? Whats your answer for that absolute capitulation. Still I suppose you enjoyed your day out in the sunshine with the other wonga-nuts. If they shut the club down completely it would put us all out of our collective miseries.
