Three weeks ago we brought you reports from Argentina that Newcastle United were in talks with Velez Sarsfield for the transfer of Jonas Gutierrez.

The source was TyC, the Argentine sports network, and it looks now as though the move is nearing a conclusion.

Jonas is now back in Argentina looking to complete a transfer back to Velez Sarsfield where he started his career. League football kicks off again for the Argentine club this Friday.

Sadly it looks as though there will be not even a final playing cameo farewell in Newcastle colours for Jonas to say goodbye, never mind any kind of meaningful return to first team action.

United are losing a great character when arguably they have never been more in need of players who fans feel any kind of attachment to.

Good luck to Jonas wherever he ends up and here’s hoping that he will be back for at least a walk on part at half-time in a Premier League match at St. James’ Park.

Terrible if he’s allowed to go without a 50k Geordie send off. Little things are all we have these days- This would be a special one . .

Good luck Jonas! Apologies on behalf of our club for the treatment you received from them!

I confess I have put it on a few sites. If Carver has been complicit in this, following in the footsteps of his mentor, then I hope the local “journalists” hold him to account for potential cowardice in not letting have a send off against Stoke.

Pardew sent Jonas on loan after his cancer, the club, apparently cynically massaged messages of support.

Well done Jonas for beating the cancer. Your efforts were appreciated by almost all, even if delivery was not.

This truly shows what a cancer we have at the top of the club. If Carver is silent I hope he is hounded out of Toon. This is not the club that I was brought up to love.

Buena suerte, Jonas, usted va con el amor y le estina de la gente de Newcastle.

All the best to Jonas, he always gave of his best.

I’d hoped that he’d get the chance to say goodbye to the fans, but it looks like it’s not to be,

If the current regime had even the slightest bit of class they would give the lad a run out before he leaves so the fans can say thanks and wish him all the best.   Clearly they don’t!

  • Gary Linney

Jonas was never going to get back into the team.FCB will simply want him off the payroll… Mark my words, I can see Coloccini will be next! His drop in form ‘is a good indicator that he’s no longer ‘up for it’. Prove me wrong, Colo!

DownUnderMag Unfortunately the regime have no idea what ‘class’ is. They’re a bunch of bas-tar-ds who’ve had a blatant disregard of the fans for almost 8 years and it isn’t going to change any time soon. F(_)ck the Ashley regime.
Best wishes to Jonas and all that.

CHANT his name at the next home game, make the baskets “in charge” squirm.
