John Carver says that his team didn’t lack fight against Manchester City last Saturday…just ability

Defending the character of his team, the Newcastle head coach insists that in the past these players have reacted well when they’ve been hammered.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference John Carver said:

“Leading up to that second goal we had some good possession.

“I don’t think it was the fact that we didn’t have any fight, I think we just lacked ability.”

Players reacted well in the past:

“They were better than us on the day and we just have to accept that sometimes.

“We have seen at times with this group of players that we take a bit of a drubbing, it is how we react to that. In the past we have reacted really well and I just expect that again.”

Team in good spirits:

“Sometimes you get defeats like this (5-0 v Man City) and all teams suffer heavy defeats at some stage and we have had that in the past.

“But one thing I would say about this group is that we respond quite well to it. I’m sure there will be a positive response – they’re in good spirits.”

    NO, they lacked leadership.

  • contactne8

They lacked the ability to score, the ability to defend, the ability to
close down the opposition, the ability to tackle, the ability to string
3 passes together, apart from that everything was fine.
