The Football League emergency loan window opens on Monday and Adam Armstrong is expected to go out to a Championship club as the latest Newcastle loan player.

The Chronicle’s club sources say that with the likes of Papiss Cisse being back from the African Cup of Nations and Siem de Jong getting close to full fitness, the 17 year old striker will be sent out to get regular football.

Both Coventry and Blackpool are said to be interested and after appearing nine times for the first team so far this season. it makes sense to keep his development heading in the right direction by playing at a decent level.

Armstrong would be the seventh United player to go out on loan with days, as Davide Santon adjusts to life back in Milan and the Rangers five find out what it is like at another mad club.

No doubt saving a few extra pennies won’t do any harm either.

As Mike Ashley no doubt says ‘Every little helps’.

  • Geordie Zebra

This is a joke this one. The lad is on the fringes of the first team, has looked bright in spells compared to Rivière. Relying on de Jong naive too with his record. Get points on the board quickly and give the lad a chance to see if he does have ‘it’. What will Coventry or Blackpool level tell us? Bah.

  • Nigel Benton

Probably a good move for the lad at his age but how thin does that leave the squad. And I doubt its about player development, more about trimming the wage bill by the FCB.

  • Mal44

Will carver have enough players to have an 11 a side practice match?

  • DownUnderMag

If we are being classed as “effectively safe” then why aren’t we giving these players a whirl in the first team here, if they show promise then keep them, if they show they can’t cut it at the top then time to move them on. Instead, we loan them out where they will probably still get no matchtime and come back no better prepared than when they left.

If we keep this up then we may as well cancel training matches or hire out a 5-a-side pitch at Eldon Leisure.

  • Demented_Man

Ashley getting his money’s worth yet again.

  • bill black

After 8 years the whole range of Ashleys plan  at Newcastle has now been show and we stay up he must in the sign some in the summer to then off load in Janury

  • vbhgft

DownUnderMag We did give these players a “whirl in the first team”. Leicester. You all went mad with outrage.

Imagine the fuss if these players were selected instead of better ones for league games.

  • vbhgft

Demented_Man Get up. Eat breakfast. Moan about Ashley. Eat lunch. Moan about Ashley. Eat dinner. Moan about Ashley. Visit the toilet. Moan about Ashley. Sleep. Repeat. Ad nauseum.

2someitsonlyagame vbhgft Demented_Man Ha ha. Touche.

  • Paul Patterson

vbhgft DownUnderMag  vbbhgft – Do you have a clue about squad building?
You seem happy with the way Mike Ashley is running the club?
I’m not one for slagging off his every move, but you really seem to like what the club are doing.

  • hillytoonbarmy

Geordie Zebra i can remember david becham going on loan at preston ,didnt harm his carrer

  • SusanCommon

vbhgft  i assume vbhgit you are not a toon fan or you are paid by him

  • Demented_Man

SusanCommon vbhgft Careful!  We’re not allowed to make remarks about him/her/it..  After all, we form part of the despised “reeking masses” according to His Platinum Highness.

  • toon tony

Beckham was sent out on loan because manure had a squad full of “superstars ” if we had Beckham he’d be playing every week. .eg Perez.

  • DownUnderMag

vbhgft DownUnderMag theres a massive difference between throwing them all in together and showing that the cup means nothing (which is more what the fans were going on about) and bringing them on properly! If they had been given regular appearances throughout the season off the bench, in a settled side, in a known role, then they may not have actually been out of their depth against Leicester.   THIS is the type of play i’m talking about, the type of playing of kids that brings their game on, not dents their confidence.

  • vbhgft

Paul Patterson vbhgft DownUnderMag Letting Armstrong go out on loan rather than sitting on his backside seems reasonable to me.

  • vbhgft

DownUnderMag vbhgft Rubbish. That Australian sun has addled your brain. Three substitution during a league game. 1-0 up against Chelsea. What to do ? I know? Bring on some kids!

  • Paul Patterson

vbhgft DownUnderMag  You’ve missed the point. And you’re turning issues to suit your own argument.
Comfortable away at Hull- bring him on.
West Brom away- Left on the bench at 2-0 up.
2-0 down away at Chelsea- Give him the experience.
Don’t put pressure on the lad, but the way he (amongst others) is being treated is footballer negligence . .

  • Geordie Zebra

Look at who Beckham had in front of him, the age he went to Preston, their squad v ours, his minimal prior experience. This lad is in our squad, has minimal talent ahead of him in ability and numbers, has shown a spark, let’s see him get more mins with us.

  • vbhgft

Paul Patterson vbhgft DownUnderMag You lot turn issues to suit your own arguments on here literally every day. Everything Carver says is twisted beyond belief.
You’ve been doing it for years to suit your bilious agenda.

  • Paul Patterson

vbhgft Paul Patterson DownUnderMag  I agree that happens on here a lot, but you can’t seriously think this club is being run well to suit Newcastle United . .

  • vbhgft

Paul Patterson vbhgft DownUnderMag Yes I do. I am happy with the way the club is being run. I am happy with the manager. I am happy with the team.

  • Paul Patterson

vbhgft Paul Patterson DownUnderMag  In that case, we will take you just as seriously as you took your input of a username- just typed out in the middle of the keyboard making no logical sense whatsoever . .

  • GeorgiaPeter

vbhgft Paul Patterson DownUnderMag Then if thats the case, your one screamin sad git…!

  • Brownale69

If theres a few injuries whats left in the tank?

  • Kazie23

I really want to see him out on loan to a championship team where he will gain some good experience especially if he goes out on loan to blackpool but I hope they will play him week in and week out but for the entire game not coming off the bench and hope he scores plenty of goals which I’m sure and certain he will get
