Steven Taylor has said that John Carver is the ‘Perfect Choice’ after his appointment as Newcastle head coach, at least until the end of the season.

The Newcastle centre-back won’t be around to help John Carver out on the pitch as he recovers from the season ending injury he picked up against Burnley.

steven taylorHowever, that hasn’t stopped Taylor giving Carver the (dubious) benefit of his support.

Steven Taylor was speaking on the Sports Lobster website, be inspired…;

“The perfect choice. I think that is good news for the club and I’m really pleased that the club has made this decision.

“It means everyone will be settled and knows what is happening moving forward.”

The man to take Newcastle forward;

“John is the man to take us forward now, at least until the summer, and it means we aren’t faced with the distraction of having the names of possible new managers discussed in the media.

“The fact that John is now in this position of being in charge until the summer gives us an element of consistency moving forward.”

High standards;

“He sets high standards, and having worked with the previous manager it provides a smooth transition from the previous regime.”

“I believe John learnt a lot from Sir Bobby Robson in terms of his man management style, and that’s a good thing. He’s great with us players.”

Plenty to cheer about;

“He knows the right time to scream and shout and the right time to put an arm around someone. He has the ability to get the best out of people and obviously he’s great on the training ground and tactically too. He’s waited his time and he fully deserves this opportunity.

“Let’s all get behind the new gaffer now, and get right behind the team too, and I’m sure there will be plenty to cheer about in the coming months

    Insufferable odious twonk! Mr media sucking up to whoevers backside is in the hot seat!

  • LeazesEnder

    The only time Taylors Gob got injured…. it had Andy Carroll’s fist in it.

  • Jarmin Geordie

    Bah even Taylor is dropping Sir Bob’s name into interviews now, I wonder what price bookies will give for him getting name checks from Charver every week now

  • Adam_B

    Right Steven, so your explanation for the lies at Leicester is….?

  • DownUnderMag

    I was all for Carver getting a crack at the job, despite his outbursts earlier in the season, he has passion for the club.   But in the games he’s been in charge of there has been little to show that the rest of the season is being written off and we will be struggling to stay up if any of the lower clubs put a run together to overtake us…can’t help feeling that Ashley is gambling on us having enough points on the board.

    Perhaps Carver is simply keeping things warm until Ashley sells up, but I have a suspicion the more likely alternative is that Ashley just doesn’t want to spend any of that Pardew money on a replacement if Carver proves he can do it for less…I mean why pay someone else when you are already paying someone who is here doing it now anyway…

    While Pardew has made an immediate impact at Palace, that was always bound to happen.  He managed a good start with us too, but give it time at Palace and i’m sure he will slide like he has done at every club he’s been in charge of…so i’m not crying over spilled milk with him leaving.   I just don’t understand how the owner can literally be running the club with such a half-arsed approach as is being done.

    What’s more worrying is that the fans are now simply accepting this state of things as “just how it is under Ashley” as he continues to sacrifice the soul of the club to the TV revenue gods in an attempt to make as much money as possible with as little input as he can get away with.

    Good sensible appointment common sense has prevailed at last
    Now will the doubters and abusers of Alan Pardew please go away and give John Carver a free reign to get on with the job.
    All the abusive remarks must have undermined the players confidence so lets get behind the
    Team and all the management for all our sakes.

    davearchbold F**k off!!!

    If these rumors about McClaren are true I’d nearly rather they just give Carver the job now, at least he’s not an insufferable twonk like the aforementioned, or at least not as insufferable.

  • DownUnderMag

    davearchbold it is a CHEAP option borne out of Ashley refusing to spend any of the compensation and gambling that he can get through to safety without actually needing to put another salary on the books, can justify no further squad additions (that are sorely needed) and leaving things open for either a sale in the summer following relegation, or appointing a new coach when they will be available with no compensation to dish out ourselves.  All in all, the season is written off for profit margin reasons.  Giving Carver the job isn’t the problem, it’s the underlying reasons for appointing him that are a joke!

  • Carver for North Korea

    davearchbold BALLS

  • MagicMagpies

    One thing that could go in Saylor’s sayings is that Cabella started playing well since Carver step up. Carver’s surely a better PR than Pardew with the players but tactically it is still to be seen.
