A week ago there were reports that rising Newcastle star Callum Roberts was to sign a long-term contract at United.

Today it has been confirmed that Newcastle have agreed a deal with the young player, the Chronicle reporting that a four year contract has been agreed which would take the agreement up to 2019.

Not turning 18 until April, the exciting winger has made his mark with a willingness and ability to go past opposition players and is definitely one who looks as if he could make it.

Heading across the Tyne on a month long youth loan, Callum Roberts made an instant impression for Gateshead as they beat Nuneaton 2-0 away.

However, Roberts was forced off with a hamstring injury when playing for the Newcastle Under 21s (allowed under the terms of the youth loan deal) against Blackburn.

As we have featured before, Callum Roberts scored this cracking goal in Germany this summer – watch it HERE.
