Never say never with Mike Ashley – Paul Tisdale is the latest name linked with the vacant Newcastle Head Coach post.
If you’ve never heard of him then it isn’t that surprising, the Exeter manager’s main claim to fame is that he is currently the second longest serving league manager after Arsene Wenger.
Some bookies made the Exeter boss third or fourth favourite after bets overnight, possibly sparked by Radio Five Live present Ian Dennis commenting;
“When Alan Pardew was appointed there was talk of Paul Tisdale at Exeter – so with Mike Ashley, expect the unexpected.”
Considering Alan Pardew was on the dole after being sacked by then League One Southampton when Ashley chose him, I wouldn’t put anything past the Newcastle owner.
Exeter are currently ninth in League Two.
Before Pardew was appointed in 2010, Sky Sports actually reported that Newcastle had looked at Tisdale as a viable candidate before going for our old mate Alan Pardew.
