Every penny spent on NUFC is a vote for Mike Ashley.

If the recent press release from our board is to be taken at face value then it is as bad as we all have thought.

nufcNot that the answers were any surprise or the fact that the wrong questions were asked.

We are by Mr Charnley’s own admission a football academy. We invest in players that have a good sell-on value to make profit for Mike Ashley.

(To feature like David, send in your articles for our website to [email protected])

So when Perez or young Aarons start banging in goals and we start singing their names, they will be in the helicopter heading for the highest bidder. Mike will have done another bit of great business. Charnley and Carr will get their bonus and the only loser is you and me. This plus TV money and our hard earned goes in Ashley’s fat bank account and they go looking for more bargains. This is the business model, this is our future.

No questions were posed as to why we do not take the cup competitions seriously or how much of the loan to Mike Ashley we have paid off from player sales, TV cash, advertising space at SJP… Where do the profits go? Is it the club’s aim to win trophies or generate cash? What are Mike Ashley’s plans for the future of our club.  We should be marching to the gates demanding these answers!

We have players joining us saying ‘This is an important step in my career’ or ‘I admire Arsenal’, this is an insult. We were a giant football club and we should be aiming for the Champions League and long cup runs. This used to be a great club players wanted to join. We are no longer a club, we are a cash cow, an unwanted plaything of a spoilt child or worse, just a business.

I have not and will not go to matches to be part of this sham. In my opinion, anyone who goes to a match is not doing OUR Newcastle united any favours, just Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United. I find it hard to watch us on tv.  We are being ripped apart on and off the pitch and it’s all down to one man. Every penny spent on Newcastle United is a vote for Mike Ashley.

Mr Charnley could have saved a lot of time and simply said,

‘We are not a football club, we are an academy, we are here to buy cheap and sell at a profit whilst attempting to stay in the top ten of the league, for us this is winning. This club belongs to Mike Ashley not the fans, it’s none of their business’.

We continue to make it easy for him to do as he pleases, he and Sports Direct will be here forever. We would rather argue amongst ourselves than act, this is our biggest problem.

If you are not part of the solution at then you are part of the problem.

DavidJames2211 Me too, the envelope’s in my desk drawer and I’m about  to send it Registered Delivery because I don’t trust the charlatans in charge not to pretend they didn’t receive it!

The admission to the fans forum that cups weren’t important drove the nail 3/4 of the way into the coffin and the events have January have finished the job!

They wouldn’t be able to talk about how much Loan has been paid off, or where the profit goes until after the financial figures come out anyway. They will be out soon.
By my reckoning We should have made approximately £75 million profit pre summer transfer window. Post window business £47 million. So we will see where all the money is going (hopefully paying off the loan).
Also next year’s figures stand to be enhanced by a reduction in approximately £13 million off the wage bill.
If we go £in for £out in the transfer market, by the end of next year we will have at least £105 million in profit. That could have the loan down to £20-40 million.
However paying the loan off will only devalue the club to any potential buyers, because clubs generally get sold for 10 times their operating profit.

You can’t moan if your wearing wonga. They’re apart of the problem by funding the fatman.

  • Gillo81

People slagging off other fans for still attending games is a joke. Not attending is not a solution to the ashley problem. He will still have his tv money and he will still be able to sell players. He doesn’t care if we don’t go.
If someone wants fans to be part of a solution then create one that is feasable and can be driven with purpose and structure. Everything else is just hot air and someone else’s turn to make the whole world miserable.
I have no support for the regime but hope the new manager will offer a glimmer of Hope to a brighter future and at least unite some of us to actually want to support the team again. Not the club. The Team.
Football is not fun at the minute but my passion for wanting my team to do well and the love I have for NUFC still exists and nobody will tell me I can’t have that and it won’t wain. I don’t but merchandise but I do support my team. Call me the devil if you want, but to me i support the team and have a passion for the lads on the pitch. Nobody will tell me I’m wrong.

  • Demented_Man

I’m tired of hearing people saying that attendance money doesn’t matter to Ashley and therefore it would make no difference if they stopped going to SJP.  Money from paying spectators is still a significant part of income (25% or thereabouts?) and, believe me, they’d miss it if there were a boycott on the scale of Glasgow Rangers.  It’s all just excuses.
Many people would still go even if it involved kissing Ashley’s posterior at the turnstile.  I just wish fans would be honest about that.

  • Toonbadger

“No questions were posed as to why we do not take the cup competitions seriously or how much of the loan to Mike Ashley we have paid off from player sales, TV cash, advertising space at SJP… Where do the profits go?      HOW do you know that these questions were not asked? Do you not realise that they could have been asked, just not answered and the chronicle told to not mention it otherwise they would be banned again? On the other hand they could have said we are making a statement no questions will be taken or answered and any mention of this will reinstate the ban.

  • Gillo81

Of course it will have an effect but it won’t bring the club to its knees financially like many people suggest.

  • Toonbadger

    Naaaaaaa he`s just shouting

  • Druid_granny

I’m sick of this situation, sick of Ashley, Carver, Carr, sick of our Defense for the last 12-13 years, sick of ugly games, sick of our hoplessness in most of the games….sick of this Ashley plague killing NUFC.

  • Shotley Mag

Paying customers are becoming less important. I once attended a meeting with John Hall many years ago and he reckoned that in the longer term, paying spectators will only be in the ground in order to create the atmosphere for TV viewers. We are nearly there now.

  • SimonM68

I’m as fed up as the next man on this – more so as regards the FA Cup scenarios which sicken me to the stomach “In my opinion, anyone who goes to a match is not doing OUR Newcastle united any favours”. Is too simplistic.
What is OUR Newcastle United?? I’ve got an 8 year old who is mad into it – his lifetime has coincided with the reign of the leech almost exactly. I take him to the match because it’s what we do together (as well as catching very few fish in the summer). It’s what my dad did with me. I get the ‘stay away’ logic and find it hard to disagree with in theory, but following that means he’d never have been. You’d end up with a whole generation of disenfranchised kids and then what happens x years along the line (god help us) when flesh farm finally jibs it? A half empty stadium and a fanbase that sits on the couch. Is that right?

  • prestondave

    Druid_granny you sound fed up.!

  • superalansuddick

Goggsy Of course its preferable to be in the prem, but it would be more preferable to have an owner who cared about the footballing side of his money making machine and showed a little ambition,I`m not asking to win silverware every season just asking to be seen trying to.

  • Druid_granny

    prestondave Druid_granny

mr newcastle Goggsy QTR final Europa league and QTR final League cup in the last 21 month

  • No Brainer

mr newcastle The folly in your argument is that he would just sell players to balance the books so IF costs are A (100 mil) and revenue from B(gates 20m) C(tv 60m) D(commerce 20m).

If revenue from A drops to 5m then costs will be dropped to 85m through the sale of players and replacement with players who do not get paid as much.

Leading to a worse product than we have now.
If anything he is assute at counting numbers.

  • LeazesEnder

Shotley Mag all that’s missing is the atmosphere.

  • mr newcastle

No Brainer  mr newcastle IF ONLY THEY KEPT THERE MOUTHS SHUT ABOUT NOT WINNING ANYTHING  WHAT I DONT KNOW COULD,NT BOTHER ME IF YOU GET WHAT I MEAN A LOT OF US SAY THING WE REALLY DONT MEAN BECAUSE WE OR MOST OF US ARE ANGRY AT HOW THING ARE RUN AT THE CLUB

  • baty1963

Gillo81 Can’t see Sky Sports picking us for tv games if there’s no supporters there as it wouldn’t make any sense (no atmosphere, but lets face it it’s getting that way now),I for one have’nt been to a game for 4 seasons now and never buy a team top (last one i bought was from TOFFS) no sir Mr (C)ashley is not getting one penny off me

  • radgiegadgie

mr newcastle Gillo81 I don’t think there are 50k people who agree with you, that is the problem

  • radgiegadgie

SimonM68 go to the heed instead

  • SimonM68

radgiegadgie SimonM68 Tried Hartlepool. Lot cheaper. He wasn’t fussed lol…

  • Sickandtiredstill

Goggsy the present is scary enough. 2015, no manager, no wins under caretaker, minimum of 13 points needed, games against top and bottom sides, best players up for sale, no players coming in. The similarities are eerily similar as to the running of the club then and now, only we are actually solvent these days.

  • Sickandtiredstill

Toonbadger I know they weren’t asked- as I emailed Mark Douglas and asked him similar myself.

  • Sickandtiredstill

Demented_Man Damage SD and you damage the owner. We have to use the tv exposure to our advantage instead of his.

  • Sickandtiredstill

mr newcastle might as well be watching them now for all the ambition the owner has.

  • Sickandtiredstill

Gillo81 sort of agree and understand both sides of the argument. I’d suggest we use the crown inside the ground to make our feelings known, same as against Pardew. That sure got plenty of air time. Voices against Ashley and slagging off his prized SD baby could be far more damaging to him.

  • Sickandtiredstill

Factually, we were 89 million in debt when Ashley bought in + a mortgaged ground. We are now 129 million in debt to Ashley (still, 7 years later) and Ashley owns the ground. Would tv and commercial revenue have been used to reduce debt under Hall and co in the following years? Perhaps. But the profits generated now are not going to pay down Ashley’s debt either. What has Ashley provided on the pitch in comparison to Hall and Co? The only benefit we will ever see out of Ashley’s ownership is a more viable business for a future owner to buy. Hall and Co got rich, Ashley will just get even richer and us, the supporters, have been subjected to years of dross and the shattering of dreams..

  • CMRowley

Goggsy Are you serious?  Take the worst position the club has ever been in and ask if this is preferable to the current situation?

False equivalence is a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Informal_fallacy which describes a situation where there is a logical and apparent equivalence, but when in fact there is none.

And to what end?  We all agree that it’s better to not be on the brink of extinction so therefore everyone should just be super duper with Mike Ashley?

    Idiot.

  • Toon Magpie

Gillo81 It isn’t about money, everyone realizes that we can’t bankrupt Ashley, you are stupid to even suggest it. It is about non attendance to show Ashley we are sick and tired of how the club is being run, we are sick of watching dross on the pitch, we are sick of meritocracy, we are sick of the lack of ambition at the club. No one turning up would get all the media talking about us and Ashley and he’ll have to change if he doesn’t he can enjoy empty seats every week.

  • Toon Magpie

Mugpies help Ashley to bring this club to it’s mediocratic knees.

  • Toon Magpie

1957 Sickandtiredstill But they did produce KKs Entertainers and Sir Bobby’s great team. What has Ashley produced?
