Today brings news of Papiss Cisse having had contact with Swansea and other clubs.
The Newcastle striker is quoted in The Sun as saying that with only 18 months on his contract, he is concentrating on the African Cup of Nations before seeing how things ‘evolve’ at St. James’ Park.
However, with Swansea seemingly in the final stages of completing Wilfried Bony’s circa £30m move to Manchester City, it would be no surprise to see them instantly spend some of that on bringing in another forward, though they do have Bafetimbi Gomis who scored against West Ham yesterday.
“I have one and a half years left on my contract.
“Today I focus on the African Cup of Nations but then we will see how things evolve and my future with Newcastle.
“We talk about a lot of clubs – Swansea and others.”
I think we can all guess what will happen if Mike Ashley gets a decent offer from cash rich Swansea for a striker claimed by Pardew to have ongoing injury problems, who is one of Newcastle’s biggest earners, whose contract is soon to be up, and who turns 30 in June.
Who needs strikers…?
