Newcastle attempt to make it 5 wins in 7 against Chelsea on Saturday but Jose Mourinho has taken a major strop ahead of the match.
Not the most gracious of losers when ten man Newcastle won 2-1 in December, the Chelsea boss has reacted even worse to a perceived ‘campaign’ against both himself and the London club.
Jose Mourinho has refused to perform his usual press duties for the Newcastle match and will be missing when Chelsea’s pre-match press conference takes place later today, with assistant Steve Holland expected to stand in for the absent blues boss.
Mourinho’s absence is in protest to the FA charging him for comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor after the recent draw with Southampton.
The Chelsea manager was unhappy that Fabregas was booked for a dive, a decision which he said was..;
“The result of something that looks like a campaign, match after match coaches are telling Chelsea players are diving. I will go to the referee and wish him a good year and tell him he will be ashamed.”
While Jose Mourinho was similarly over the top about a penalty decision his team didn’t get against the Saints;
“The reality is there are penalties and penalties and this one was a huge one. It was not just a small penalty. It was a penalty like Big Ben, in other countries this is front page news because it is an absolute scandal.”
Let’s hope that there are plenty of disallowed penalties and bookings for diving tomorrow, as I feel United are going to need every bit of help they can.
Facing a team who have won all nine Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge with 22 goals scored to 3 against, I would personally settle for a draw at this moment in time…
