Jonas Gutierrez continued on the comeback trail with his latest run out being for the Newcastle Under 21s against Bolton Wanderers.

On a chilly Monday night, Jonas supplemented the usual reserve team line-up along with Sammy Ameobi, Davide Santon and Adam Armstrong.

jonas gutierrezThe match eventually finished 1-1 and kept United at the top of the second tier of the reserve leagues.

However, the occasion was lit up by a superb goal in the 11th minute from Captain for the night, Jonas Gutierrez.

thumbs up to jonas. well played lad

Watching that I realise why players don’t get match for playing with the reserves, the pace looked ridiculously slow.

Steve1221  And the defending was first team-esque

  • Munich Mag

great goal from Jonas, but man the standard looked pathetically slow..

Nufc are running his contract down but before then i hope they put him on the bench at a home game & give him some playing time so the fans can give him a send off
Be a nice touch for a Club who`s reputation is in the Sewer

Maximus Moose You are right. I will go and watch the u21’s when they come to the midlands as i don’t expect NUFC to do what you have suggested though – that will give us chance to say thanks personally i hope. I went to the Stoke game and got my kid to meet all of the players at the end – we got to talk to all of them especially Ryan Taylor who signed my sons shirt and wrote “over the wall” on it.

Steve1221 agreed, painfully slow in fact and to be honest the coaching staff need a wake-up call if they think this is acceptable prep for stepping up to the first team.  I would take losing every reserve game as long as it made them more physically ready for Premiership matches when needed.

Pace of footy I might have been able to just about keep up with in my day. Standard of girlfriend…. maybe not.  Good on you Jonas!
