John Carver ‘If the new guy isn’t me, I’d be happy to work for him’
John Carver has said once again how he he’d love to get the permanent head coach job at Newcastle, but says that if that isn’t the case then he’d be happy to work under whoever the new one was.
Having worked under a number of managers at Newcastle, Carver has certainly shown his durability.
The caretaker manager also insists that the players are players for him and that he understands the fans because he is one of them, and says he was determined not to ‘shirk’ his responsibility when he insisted that he and the players went over to the fans at the end of the Leicester match.
John Carver speaking ahead of Chelsea;
“Let’s not forget the fan inside me, I want this club to be the best and at the end of this situation if it didn’t work out for me and they bring some other guy in and he wants to bring his guys in…listen, I don’t have a problem with that.
“If the new guy, if it’s not me, wants me to work with him, I’d be happy to do that.”
The lads are playing for me;
“The one thing I have got is that I have got the lads playing for me and wanting to play for me.
“They all know me, they know me as a coach and that is what I am doing.”
Understanding the fans;
“I understand the fans, I’m one of them.
“I didn’t shirk the responsibility last week (at Leicester), it was important the players went over to the fans.”
