John Carver denies any team orders from Mike Ashley

John Carver has insisted that he has not been given any team orders from Mike Ashley.

Ahead of the Leicester match this afternoon, the caretaker Newcastle boss was asked whether he’d been ordered to play a weakened side in the FA Cup.

Carver though was adamant that he hadn’t had any instructions passed down from Ashley and that he would pick his ‘strongest available side’.

John Carver also said that he knows exactly how important the FA Cup is but he also indicated that even if he wanted to make a number of changes his hands are tied with so few other options available.

John Carver;

“I haven’t been told that, I know how important it is on Saturday and I’ve got to get the team ready for it.

“I need to see what we have available and I will pick my strongest available side.”

Every game approached the same way;

“Listen, there’s been an awful lot made about cup runs so let me say this – every game I go into I want to win and so I will put the best team on the pitch that I possibly can to win the game.”

Lack of options;

“I’ve got to be honest though, we might not have any options when we see who is available.

“I know how important it is to win a Premier League game and how important it is to win an FA Cup match as well, so I’ve not thought of it any differently if we had won, drawn or lost (v Burnley).”

A massive game for both John Carver and all Newcastle fans.

Surely United have to throw everything at today’s match to keep the season alive. Next weekend Newcastle are away at Chelsea and will get tanked whatever side they put out so let’s really go for it against Leicester.
