Roll up roll up for the month we love to hate, yes the January transfer window is only hours away from opening.

We can look forward to daily nonsense of transfers that are never going to happen, as well as spending every minute worrying if one of our superstars, or Yoan Gouffran…, are going to be sold to the highest bidder.

january transfer windowAs soon as the bell strikes midnight tonight, the January transfer window will be officially open.

It runs from Saturday 3 January to 11pm on Monday 2 February.

Already today we have seen reports from France that Newcastle have opened talks with Arsenal to sell Moussa Sissoko, with United said by L’equipe to be asking £15m for the Newcastle midfielder.

The opening of the window would also of course allow Newcastle to bring in a goalkeeper on a temporary basis, though John Carver has said that Tim Krul is expected to start training next week.

The opening of the transfer window comes too late for the FA Cup third round though, as any players had to have been registered by noon today (Friday 2 January) to play this weekend.
