John Carver says whoever gets job will not have any say on transfers

7 years ago

Despite claiming to not be involved with any other aspect of the club other than coaching, John Carver says that he knows that whoever gets the Newcastle manager/head coach job will not have any say on transfers in and out of the club.

The caretaker boss saying that the job will be only to coach and look after the team.

This to me is a sure fire way to disaster and having no connection between the person who picks and coaches the team, with the person/people who decide who is bought and sold, is crazy.

john Carver also falls back on an old favourite and you can almost hear the ghost of Alan Pardew speaking, the caretaker boss reassuring us all that ‘Know for a fact people working hard behind the scenes to get players’ before the window slams shut and we are all told that they just failed to get them ‘over the line’.

John Carver;

“To be quite honest, whoever the manager is, won’t get involved in that situation (buying and selling of players).

“Whoever is coming in is going to be the head coach and the head coach’s responsibility is to look after the team.”

Working hard behind the scenes…;

“I know for a fact how hard the people are working behind the scenes to get players into this football club, but they have got to be the right players.”

Aiming for fifth…;

“We finished fifth a few years ago and that was a fantastic achievement, so why can’t we push fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth?

“There is all this talk about happy to be top ten but no, set your marker as high as you can. Then if you get there, what an achievement.”
