Steve Bruce economical with truth in Hatem Ben Arfa hide and seek competition
Steve Bruce claimed at the weekend that he didn’t have a clue where Hatem Ben Arfa was, after banning the player from his squad over a perceived lack of commitment.
This was despite French media reports that the player had now relocated to Paris and was working on his own with a fitness coach.
“I don’t know if Hatem is in Paris, that’s the truth.
“As for not playing for Hull City again, at the moment he is not in the squad.”
“At the moment he is not in the squad and he hasn’t earned the right to be in the squad.”
However, now Hatem Ben Arfa’s advisor Michel Ouazine has given a different version of events.
Over in France Footmercato have reported Ouazine saying;
“They (Hull City) know where Hatem is, for a simple reason: they asked for his address in Paris with regards to doping controls.
Hatem’s agent stating that Hull had actually sanctioned the player been allowed to go to Paris, then Hatem Ben Arfa simply communicating his registered address in Paris to follow the prescribed procedure in case of a need for him to be tested.
However, looking ahead, Michel Ouazine’s other claim might be a bit harder to believe. Ben Arfa’ advisor suggesting that there are plenty of clubs interested in taking him on, hinting Hatem will have a decent selection to choose from.
“Clubs are watching from the outside, everything that’s said, it is positive. After that, depending on the sporting challenge, we will see, then Newcastle still have something to say!”
After this latest farce at Hull City, Hatem Ben Arfa it will be a major leap of faith for a credible club to take a chance on his undoubted talent.
