Ahead of today’s Newcastle v Chelsea match, Alan Pardew has said that if his players aren’t inspired by being on the same pitch as players such as John Terry, then they shouldn’t be playing football.

The United boss also says that just like the players he has to ‘rise to the occasion’ when Newcastle are up against the top teams.

Pardew says he can’t wait for this afternoon’s match and let’s hope that the players are indeed inspired by being on the same pitch as John Terry…

“As a coach it is the same as the players, you have to rise to the occasion. I can’t wait for the game and I hope the players are the same.

“You know, getting on the same pitch as Hazard and Costa and Fabregas and all these names, John Terry etc.

“Fantastic, you have to raise your game. If you don’t get inspired by that then don’t play the game.”
