Pardew draws comparisons with Wayne Rooney
One of the bright spots in a strange season so far, Ayoze Perez has now been compared to Wayne Rooney by his manager.
Alan Pardew claims that the Spaniard isn’t a natural out and out goalscorer but is somebody who can link up play in midfield and also score goals.
The table would look a whole lot different without Ayoze Perez’ crucuial goals that brought three Premier League wins.
“When he (Ayoze Perez) first arrived, in training he looked too light and was knocked off the ball far too easily. In tight areas he didn’t hold his own but now he does that in training and matches.
“He is not going to grow much bigger and I don’t want him to, that wiry strength is a big part of his game.”
A touchof the Wayne Roooneys;
“He did a couple of tricks on Sunday (v Sunderland), I don’t think anybody else on the pitch could have produced. His feet are so fast and he has been a real asset.
“He is not a natural goalscorer and is more a natural forward, he can do the other side of the game, a bit like Wayne Rooney. He can mix it in the midfield and score goals.”
