Papiss Cisse ‘I believe in myself’
Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse says that he still believes in himself but needs to score a lot of goals.
The two things kind of going hand in hand for a striker, a bit of a vicious circle – goals giving confidence/belief which then brings goals which then gives belief and so on.
Cisse of course scored a brilliant goal and an out of this world goal at Stamford Bridge three seasons ago but has yet to score at St.James’ Park against them. Whilst Jose Mourinho is yet to win a Premier League match (though he has won some matches at SJP despite what much of the media is reporting – winning twice in the League Cup) on Tyneside.
“I believe in myself and I need to score a lot of goals, I try my best to do well and work hard.
“I like to score goals all the time, a lot of goals, but it is a little bit hard for me at the moment.”
This is the big one;
“All the players know that this team (Chelsea) is the big one this year. If you play this team then you need to be clear in your head about your job.
“Maybe Newcastle will beat them on Saturday.”
The players are ready;
“I know the players will be ready for this game.
“It’s a big game and we need to be ready because Chelsea will give us a very hard game.”
It will be interesting to see what selection and formation Alan Pardew goes with, very harsh on Ayoze Perez if he has left out and he looked uncomfortable in a more withdrawn role on Tuesday night.
Regardless of whether there is a place for the Spaniard, I do think that Papiss Cisse has to play because I have little doubt he is still Newcastle’s best chance of scoring goals on any kind of a regular basis.
