Newcastle to watch Aleksandar Mitrovic again tonight

7 years ago

Aleksandar Mitrovic has been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle in January and United were said to have been impressed after having him watched against Galatasaray in a recent Champions League match.

United are to watch the striker again tonight against Borussia Dortmund in their final Champions League group match according to media reports on the continent..

Anderlecht are guaranteed third position and a place in the Europa League, so with no more Champions League progress possible, the Belgian club are bracing themselves for strong interest in the upcoming transfer window.

With 16 goals last season and already 12 this season, the 20 year old Serbian international looks an emerging star with the potential to increase in value being very likely.

Mitrovic has been described as the ‘Serbian Ibrahimovic’ and was signed for £4m in summer 2013 from Partizan Belgrade but now is rated at up to £15m.

Despite recent results, Newcastle are clearly in need of another quality striker and with Alan Pardew admitting that Papiss Cisse can’t play every match, or even possibly a full match at the moment, it is even more desperate that Unite dadd more quality up front. Plus Senegal will be taking him away for up to six weeks in the new year for the African Cup of Nations.

Recently Mitrovic was told to forget ‘Women, food and entertainment’ and concentrate on his football, the striker returning from international duty having put five pounds in weight on.

Aleksander Mitrovic’s agent is 38 year-old former Serbian striker Nenad Jestrovic and he said;

“He let himself go with the national team and came back five pounds overweight. A catastrophe!¨ Aleksandar moved little on the field and then I had a good conversation with him.¨

“I said to Aleksandar: ‘Women, food and entertainment is for later, for now you have to concentrate on the football.”
