Newcastle v Chelsea players ratings – Independently sourced
What were your Newcastle v Chelsea player ratings?
Interesting to get an outside perspective and the industry leader for an independent viewpoint is the whoscored rating system (used by numerous sections of the football industry; including media, bookmakers and clubs themselves).Over 200 raw statistics are used to calculate the player ratings and are weighted according to influence in the game – taking into account the area of the pitch and its outcome for each important event.
The marks overall of the Newcastle v Chelsea player ratings meant that United players on average rated 6.98, compared to Chelsea’s 6.99, which is a contradiction of Jose Mourinho’s claims that United only crossed the halfway line twice and by inference, were way second best.
However, while Alan Pardew is right in claiming that things improved in the second half, Remy Cabella did alright but still struggles to really impose himself and actually creat anything of substance – his rating of 6.6 (same as Gouffran!) is about right.
Fabregas getting top marks overall and he is a class act, interesting though to see that it is four Newcastle players; Cisse, Colback, Dummett and Tiote, in the next four spaces.
7.7 Cisse (Sub)
6.9 Alnwick (Sub)
6.3 Steven Taylor
6.2 Williamson (Sub)
Chelsea: 8.1 Fabregas, 7.3 Terry, 7.2 Hazard, 7.2 Mikel, 7.1 Ivanovic, 7.1 Azpilicueta, 6.9 Willian, 6.8 Cahill, 6.7 Costa, 6.7 Oscar, 6.4 Courtois
Subs: 6.7 Luis, 6.4 Schurrle, 7.4 Drogba
