Is this Newcastle United’s worst stunt ever?

Against some pretty fierce competition, Newcastle United might have scraped the very bottom of the barrel with their latest stunt.

The build up to Sunday’s derby has already seen an embarrassing photo shoot featuring Steven Taylor, Jak Alnwick and Paul Dummett.

Under the theme of ‘Let’s make it a black & white derby’ and encourage everybody to wear the colours at the Newcastle v Sunderland clash, the club had the three players photographed with a cheap and tatty little flag, a black and white wig and a Newcastle shirt.

Instead of putting a bit of effort and cash into the derby build-up we had this feeble attempt which must have taken all of 30 seconds to think up and execute. It almost made the shocking ‘Whey Aye Man’ fancy dress idea look classy.

Now however, they have left that photo shoot and Whey Aye Man well in the shade, the club sending out an email below to supporters, with instructions on how to print off a mask which will allegedly make you look like Sissoko, Janmaat, Cabella, Tiote or Coloccini.

Obviously far too much hassle and effort to actually get some decent proper masks made and hand them out at the game.

I’m already praying that nobody actually does this, if we lose again you might want to hide your face but not beneath one of these monstrosities.

Through the eyes of Sissoko

We’ve got a whole load of football masks for you to download and have some fun with for the Newcastle United vs Sunderland game.

Choose from Newcastle United stars including Sissoko, Cabella, Janmaat, Coloccini and Tiote.

  • Click on the mask you want and print it out
  • Cut out the mask with scissors and for best results stick it to some card – cereal boxes work great.
  • Put some string through each ear or stick it to a pen and hold it up in front of your face.
