Newcastle United’s last 38 matches Premier League record
Ahead of the trip to Old Trafford, I thought it would be worth having a look at the full season of 38 Premier League matches starting with the Boxing Day win against Stoke.
Starting with that 5-1 win how have Alan Pardew and his players done in these last 38 matches; the 17 this season and the final 21 of last season.
Won 12 Drawn 6 Lost 20
Goals For 37 Goals Against 60
In addition to the bleak figures above, the 38 matches have seen 19 of them without a single goal from Newcastle United. That’s right, every other Premier League match over the last year saw United draw a blank in front of goal.
Imagine if Pardew hadn’t had that recent run of wins that supposedly ‘proved’ the fans were wrong to doubt him.
This 38 match run equals a relegation fight and that is what we could still face this season as a lot of the signs are there from the second half of last season, especially if Mike Ashley chooses to boost his profits by selling Moussa Sissoko.
Unless Newcastle bring in at least one more attacking option in January AND Pardew accepts he has to play a more attacking formation, then it is just going to be one long big struggle ahead of us all.
