Newcastle United join Stoke and Palace on honours list
Newcastle United have joined some illustrious company.
After playing seventeen of the nineteen Premier League clubs, Sunderland have now beaten Stoke City, Crystal Palace and…Newcastle United.
The worst aspect of yesterday, apart from the actual getting beat bit, was the fact that Newcastle managed to make Sunderland look quite good for much of the game.

After a frenetic twenty minutes of both sets of players getting their retaliation in early, the match then settled down into a pattern where Sunderland were playing the better football.
Seriously average players like Fletcher and Wickham were given acres of time to bring down long balls and build attacks.
Newcastle were neither a real attacking threat for most of the game, or tight defensively.
Any moves forward relied almost entirely on Moussa Sissoko and Ayoze Perez, Ameobi and Gouffran create and score next to nothing, while playing both Jack Colback and Cheick Tiote makes United even more short of numbers going forward.
Four points now separate the derby combatants and if that gap isn’t sizeably bigger come the end of the season, then we’ll know we’ve had another shocking second half of the season.
