Newcastle scouts watch Lamine Sane ahead of January window
Newcastle have been scouting Lamine Sane ahead of the January transfer window.
The Senegalese international plays at centre-back for Bordeaux who are currently sixth in Ligue 1.
Newcastle were again represented on Sunday to watch Lamine Sane but picked a bad day for the player and his teammates.
Already trailing by two goals at home to Lyon, a second-half sending off for Sane’s defensive partner Pallois led to a late collapse and a 5-0 scoreline to the visitors.
No doubt Lamine Sane, former teammate of Yoan Gouffran, is one of any number of players United are watching and with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa on his way out of St.James’ Park, there is a definite need for a quality centre-back to come in.
All three senior centre-backs see their contracts at Newcastle run out in 18 months time and with seemingly no movement yet in agreeing extensions to Taylor, Williamson or Colo’s contracts, it remains to be seen how Newcastle fill their centre-back positions moving forward.
