Newcastle midfielder open to January move
Not even making the bench against Sunderland, Newcastle midfielder Vurnon Anita has said he was very happy to get the call-up for the game at Old Trafford, but is open to the possibility of a January move to get more football.
The Dutch international had a reasonable match as Newcastle struggled to contain an attacking Manchester United formation.
Soccer News in the Netherlands though have reported that after the match Anita has said that he is always available if Alan Pardew chooses to use him but he doesn’t want to wait on the sidelines forever.
“As a footballer you always want to play, when I heard I would start (v Man Utd) I was very happy.
“I work hard and if the manager needs me I will be there but I want to play more.”
“Who knows (what could happen in January).
“You never know in football what will happen, maybe something will happen (in January)…we’ll see.”
It is hard to see Vurnon Anita getting many games once some of the injured are back and no doubt Cheick Tiote will come straight back in for Everton after suspension.
Maybe a loan in the second half of this season will suit both player and club, to see if the player can recapture the form he showed at Ajax, leading to Newcastle paying just short of £7m two and a half years ago. The midfielder starting 51 Premier League matches since that summer 2012 transfer.
