Newcastle match sets new record American TV Audience

The Newcastle match against Chelsea has set a new record American TV audience for the Saturday early kick-off slot.

Broadcaster NBCSN attracted an average viewing figure of 535,000 for the defeat of Jose Mourinho and his team.

To put it into context, that Saturday lunchtime slot equates to a 4am Pacific Time and 7am Eastern Time over in the States.

When it comes to the time slots that fit  in with TV viewers on the other side of the Atlantic, a new record of a 1.4m audience was set for the recent Arsenal v Manchester United match.

Everything points to the American market growing ever faster and giving great commercial exposure for Premier League clubs to attract lucrative tie-ups with sponsors.

Hopefully Newcastle United will start and take advantage sometime soon of these commercial opportunities.
