Newcastle once again linked with Demarai Gray transfer

Newcastle United are being once again linked with a move for Demarai Gray, the winger who made his debut at Birmingham under Lee Clark at the age of 17.

In October Newcastle were first linked with the player and now media reports are claiming that his one-time manager Clark has recommended him to United, and they could make a move in January.

A hat-trick in the Blues’ 6-1 win over Reading yesterday has rubber-stamped Demarai Gray’s potential, making it four goals in the Championship so far this season.

Turning eighteen over the summer, Gray has also featured for England’s Under 18s and Under 19s, while last season Four For Two magazine named him as one of the ‘Top 10 Football League Stars Of Tomorrow’.

Over the summer Newcastle bought Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow, then instantly loaned them back to Forest.

A similar arrangement could be in the offing with Gray if Newcastle pursue their interest, though a host of other clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal are also said to be watching the Birmingham player.
