Manchester United look to blow Newcastle United away with starting 11

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has made clear his intentions today.

The starting eleven for the Mancs makes it look a bit of a training ground defence against attack when compared to Pardew’s line up.

Newcastle have Alnwick in goal and Janmaat, Colo, Taylor and Dummett in front of him.

However, Alan Pardew has put in defensive midfielder Vurnon Anita to sit alongside Jack Colback, with the woeful Yoan Gouffran also somehow keeping his place – a player who gives Newcastle absolutely nothing in the final third.

Tiote is suspended and Sammy Ameobi has been dropped/injured?

Adam Armstrong gets a start but I bet he will be expected to doing a lot more defending than attacking, which then just leaves Sissoko and Perez to give some kind of an attacking threat, which was the case against Sunderland.

In contrast, Van Gaal has an attacking six of Carrick, Rooney, Van Persie, Young, Falcao and Mata as the Dutchman looks to take Newcastle apart.

Even in defence he has Valencia who is much better going forward than backwards, with Evans, McNair and Jones making up the rest of the back four in front of De Gea.

A shame we haven’t gone for a more attacking line up as the Manchester United backline is definitely suspect.

We live in hope!
