Liverpool watch on as top Newcastle starlet turns down new contract – Reports

It is reported today that arguably Newcastle United’s most exciting young player, Rolando Aarons, has turned down a new contract .

The offer is said to have been for around £6,000 a week and would tie the winger down for a further six years.

Obviously six grand a week would be very nice for the average punter but in terms of modern day football, it is way below what a player who is now part of the first team squad would expect.

Needless to say a source (his agent!) has said that the player and his representatives aren’t impressed and they are waiting to see if Newcastle will come back with a better offer.

Clubs including Liverpool and Manchester City have been regularly linked with a potential move for the player and if the reported United offer is correct then they would have little trouble beating it.

The Star are reporting this as an exclusive and if it is without any foundation then surely we can expect Mike Ashley to put a banning order on them.

What was strange is that Rolando Aarons current contract was for only two years and ends in June 2016, suggesting the player and his representatives were already thinking to keep their options open even then.

Needless to say, if the club don’t manage to keep talent such as Rolando Aarons at the club then it would be a massive own goal.
