At least Newcastle had 6 Geordies on the pitch…
Alan Pardew’s management was summed up for me today, his first substitution was to take the appalling Yoan Gouffran off and brought Adam Armstrong on to make it six Geordies on the pitch.
I have every hope that 17 year old Armstrong will end up being a great striker but surely nobody is in any doubt that the most likely player to score a goal for Newcastle today was Papiss Cisse?
Whether it was under orders from Mike Ashley or via his own arrogance, Pardew showcased the Geordies angle by adding Armstrong to Colback, Dummett, Taylor, Ameobi and Alnwick to bring the Tyneside contingent up to six – five of them having come through the ranks.

Yes it would have made a great story if we’d won…’Newcastle with half the team from the Academy beat Sunderland etc etc’ but we lost.
Waiting until fifteen minutes to go for Papiss Cisse’s introduction, what’s that all about?
An experienced striker with a knack of scoring goals when you need them, and also our top scorer this season, sitting on the bench while a couple of kids (Perez and Armstrong) are given the responsibility of winning this game.
