Is it just me or should Rob Elliot have saved that? Video special
Due to work, I couldn’t make it down to the Burnley match on Tuesday, so I wasn’t there in the flesh to see Papiss Cisse’s equaliser or indeed George Boyd’s opener past Rob Elliot.
In fact I was driving back home (via the pub!) and only made it to the bar on time for the second half.
Listening to Radio Newcastle’s commentary, they are usually very supportive of Pardew and his players and some of their comments suggest they are wearing rose-tinted glasses to keep in with the club.
However, even they (John Anderson I think) remarked that Newcastle had struggle to put two passes together in the whole of that opening 45 minutes.
One other thing though, when describing the Burnley goal both Ando and the other bloke were in agreement that Rob Elliot had no chance. They described it as a shot lashed through a crowd of players with Elliot seemingly unsighted and so not having a hope.

Fair enough I thought, until I git into the pub that is. All my mates couldn’t believe the feeble effort Rob Elliot had made to save it as teh ball wasn’t far from him and were adamant that Tim Krul would almost certainly have saved it.
Seeing the replay later I had to agree, Krul’s injury may already have cost us two points.
