Gus Poyet gives his answer on taking Newcastle job
With Alan Pardew now just waiting to sign on officially at Crystal Palace, Gus Poyet has been quizzed as to whether he would accept the Newcastle job.
Having a connection to Mike Ashley via Dennis Wise, the former Brighton manager has been linked in the past with United.
The Sunderland manager has though pointed to there being a number of high profile out of work managers in the summer, all of them now being picked off, such as Moyes and De Matteo;
“I think I had a bit of a love and hate relationship with them and the love has now gone. That is over – will I take the job? No chance!”
“You would have to ask Alan for the answer and he played for Crystal Palace so he is not coming from the outside. He knows how he has been feeling and we can have an opinion but at the end of the day, it is him.”
Moyes, Di Matteo, Pulis…;
“This summer, there were very good managers out of work such as Di Matteo, Moyes, Pulis – all the ones who are getting a job now.
“They were there waiting for us, now slowly they are getting into jobs. This job (Newcastle United) in particular is very unique.”
